Here are some great ideas for keeping your bathroom clean without using toxic chemicals.
Clogged drains are such a pain – get rid of this frustration by creating your own green drain cleaner. It’s simple – here’s all you need:
1 cup baking soda
1 cup salt
2 cups cream of tartar
Mix these ingredients together, pouring half down your drain, followed by ½ cup white vinegar. Then pour 2 quarts of boiling water down the drain after this, and Wala! No more clogged drains.
Often voted “least favorite job in household cleaning”, how can you get out tough stains and freshen up your bowl? Try this: Pour 2 cups of baking soda into the bowl and then pour about a cup of vinegar in, and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then scrub as normal and enjoy those sparkling toilet bowls!
Showers And Tubs
There’s not much less desirable than cleaning dirty showers and bathtubs. Well, did you know there is a natural green product you can create to remove stubborn mildew and disgusting rust stains from your shower and tub area? While typical cleaners contain bleach and other harmful chemicals, this cleaner is both safe AND effective.
Simply mix 2 tsp Tea Tree Oil with good old H2O (water) to make the green cleaner. Spray it onto the area, and let it sit for a while. You may not even need to scrub or even rinse the areas you are cleaning! In addition, you can use this cleaner on your shower curtains, ceilings, or even on your carpets.
While “going green” in some areas might seem to be more expensive, using items around your home for cleaning will actually cut your costs. You’ll be left with a cleaner and healthier home, no noxious fumes, and fresh air to breathe.
Green cleaning products will smell better and leave your rooms in better shape than you found them. Just say no to toxic brews and say yes to healthy cleaning!
